We still have door knockers to let people know we’re at the door. Actually in my world, the doors aren’t locked and we stick our heads in and yell, Yoohoo before we just walk in.

But my husband says that it’s not very warm and welcoming.

I combine the creepy Victorian door kocker with other front door Halloween decorations such as a Halloween doormat that makes frightening screams when you step on it. Then I open the door dressed in my costume. This year I’m going to be a vampire with big fangs. Our dogs will get vampire capes as well. (I don’t think that they’ll allow us to put fangs in their mouths.) It’ll be kind of cute because their tiny chihuahuas.
